Launch Stability & Compatibility

The B760M PROJECT ZERO platform launched with version v10, establishing immediate support for Intel 14th Gen processors. Early firmware updates focused on system hardening, with version v11 optimizing Intel Application Optimization (APO) functionality and refining Secure Boot mechanisms. Memory compatibility was significantly expanded in versions v131[Beta] and v13, which enabled support for up to 256GB of DDR5 memory capacity. Additionally, version v13 resolved stability issues associated with switching to CSM mode and extended APO support to include Intel 12th and 13th Gen Core processors.

Feature Maturity & Hardware Support

Performance tuning for Raptor Lake architectures was prioritized in version v13, which integrated Microcode 0x123 to optimize CPU performance by disabling the CEP function on 14th Gen (B0 stepping) processors. To address thermal management, version v141[Beta] introduced Microcode 0x125, patching a critical bug in the eTVB algorithm that previously allowed processors to boost beyond safe temperature thresholds. Usability improvements in version v18 resolved a specific bug where fan settings were inadvertently modified when exiting the BIOS without saving, ensuring consistent thermal profiles.

Critical Security & Power Management

To mitigate physical degradation risks, version v15 implemented Microcode 0x129, enforcing a hard voltage clamp to restrict maximum requested VID to 1.55V. This was followed by version v16, which delivered the "Root Cause" fix for Vmin Shift Instability via Microcode 0x12B, addressing elevated voltage requests during idle states. Further protection against edge-case voltage drifts and "Always On" degradation was added in version v181[Beta] with the update to Microcode 0x12F. Additionally, version v17 corrected a persistent issue where the DMI UUID was lost after clearing CMOS, alongside general security updates.
