Version FB establishes the initial firmware baseline for the Z790 platform. Post-launch optimization in version FC integrates support for the i9-14900KS processor and updates the Intel APO framework to version 9.0.11405.42569. This release also refines power management by optimizing CEP parameters, ensuring stable voltage delivery during transient loads.

Feature Maturity & Hardware Support

Version FD standardizes system operation by enabling Intel Default Settings as the mandatory baseline, requiring manual overrides for custom PerfDrive profiles. This update also introduces EZ-OC support specifically for AORUS x XPG co-branded DRAM. Hardware compatibility expands in version FF, which adds support for Intel 120/120F processors and integrates the AI TOP Utility v4.1.1. Memory validation is further improved in version FG, which updates compatibility for ADATA 6000 16G modules.

Critical Security & Power Management

Addressing processor longevity, version FD integrates Microcode 0x12B to mitigate Vmin Shift Instability, encompassing the eTVB fix (0x125) and voltage clamp (0x129). Protection is strengthened in version FE (following vFEd[Beta]), which deploys Microcode 0x12F to resolve residual voltage drifts and Microcode 0x3A to patch vulnerabilities such as INTEL-SA-01153. Version FF enhances platform hardening by enabling Pre-boot DMA Protection, VT-d, and IOMMU by default, alongside updating the CSME to version 16.1.38.2676v4.1. Finally, version FG enforces Secure Boot as the default state to prevent unauthorized boot loaders.
