The Z790 AORUS MASTER X platform launched with version F3, establishing baseline system functionality and hardware initialization. Subsequent update vF4 integrated Microcode 0x11D to align CPUID parameters with Intel specifications. Version vF5 addressed critical UEFI vulnerabilities associated with LogoFAIL while introducing options for GNA (Gaussian & Neural Accelerator) and SPD Write Disable to enhance hardware-level security and prevent unauthorized memory configuration changes.

Feature Maturity & Hardware Support

Mid-cycle firmware focused on high-performance processor support and power regulation. Version vF6 optimized CEP (Current Excursion Protection) settings and enabled support for the i9-14900KS processor alongside Intel APO framework updates. A significant architecture shift occurred in vF8, which enforced Intel Default Settings as the standard configuration. This version also integrated Microcode 0x12B, the root cause fix for Vmin Shift Instability, which encompasses the eTVB algorithm corrections of 0x125 and the voltage clamps of 0x129 to prevent processor degradation. Iterative updates vF9b and vF9c expanded EZ-OC support for co-branded high-speed memory modules.

Critical Security & Power Management

Later revisions prioritized long-term stability and platform hardening. Versions vF9e and vF9 implemented Microcode 0x12F, providing advanced mitigation for Vmin Shift Instability to address edge-case voltage drifts not fully resolved by previous patches. These updates also integrated Microcode 0x3A to resolve security vulnerabilities including INTEL-SA-01153 and INTEL-SA-01224. The latest vF10 enhances pre-boot security by enabling DMA Protection and VT-d by default, updates the CSME to 16.1.38.2676, and adds support for Intel 120/120F processors and the AI TOP Utility.
